art

Ive just bought this fantastic Alice In Wonderland inspired print from one of my new favourite Artists Kelly Smith.

Hobart based illustrator, she usually draws whimsical girls and uses mixed medias to complete the works. She's been featured in a fair few Australian mags and I wish her all the success in the world, her art is truely beautiful!

Some of my other favourite images from her:

Keep It Under Your Hat

Doe Eyes

You Are My Honey, Bunny

Check out her blog here!

Tell me, who are some of your favourite artists? Established or up-and coming?

Appreciation Bubble:
Friends. There was a time in my life when I had no one I could rely on, no one to talk to except a handful of self obsessed, toxic girlfriends. Now, I have a wide range of friends for different reasons- the girls to go out partying with, the girls to have d&m's with and the rare few who i look at as my sisters. I dont think family has to mean blood relatives at all, there are those who feel more like family than some cousin ive met once who lives on the other side of the world from me. I love them all.

oh man. i love kelly smiths art work. Hm I'll get back to you on my favorite artist. but had to put in my input on the family thing. and yeah i have friends I know i'd do anything for their happiness. Its like i would do anything for them because i know they'd do the same. Blood is strong, sometimes. but Most of the time its just a chance thing, you know? Like you could've been related to a jackass and its something that you had no say in. ahah sorry for the mini-rant... I was totally mulling over the subject this morning
Sincerly, Steph
btw linked you, totally not an obligation thing as some make you think when they link you. yeah your just that cool.

Oh how cool! I believe that anything Alice in Wonderland-inspired will turn out gorgeous.
I feel the same way about the friends thing - we've all been through a period of unintentionally surrounding ourselves with 'toxic' friends, and it's wonderful once you get out of it and start meeting new people who are supportive and loving. It's a mistake I've made too many times before, so never again.
Great post! :)

i love the second one and the one with the bunny! i think this is amazing work. One of my favorite artists is R. Toledo, you may know him as the person who did all those fashion illustrations for the Nordstroms and SAKS ads. He does more fashion illustrations than reg. illustrations.

The artwork is beautiful. I still feel closer to family than friends, but I tend to take a long time to get close to someone and I have two sisters who are close enough to be friends.
